Global flexographic printing market survey and Analysis II
European flexographic printing market
in 2000, among the packaging printing methods in Europe, offset printing accounted for 40%, flexographic printing accounted for 32%, and gravure printing accounted for 18%. According to the growth forecast in 2005, but the current measurement, flexo printing will reach the same scale as offset printing (Figure 3, figure 4). The product areas that will grow in the future include carton flexo printing (currently offset printing accounts for 70 ~ 80%, flexo printing accounts for 4 ~ 10%, gravure printing accounts for 15 ~ 20%) and flexible packaging flexo printing (currently flexo printing accounts for 60%). The proportions of different formats in packaging and printing are shown in Figure 3. According to the substrate, about 70% of flexographic printing is used for printing PE, OPP and other plastic film materials (Table 5). According to different packaging and printing purposes, the proportion of each format is shown in Table 6. The most promising growth is flexible packaging flexo printing. At present, 90% of corrugated paper, the largest product market, adopts flexo printing, while 10% of cartons adopts flexo printing. However, with the improvement of chemical properties of polymers and the highest design rate, it reaches 10%. Countries with a large number of flexo printing enterprises in Europe include Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom (Table 7)

now the development trends of European packaging and printing market in the past five years are listed as follows:
1) product small batch trend
2) inventory reduction
3) short delivery period
4) the number of printing designs increased
5) improvement of printing quality requirements
6) the increase of printing color number
7) diversification and variety increase of substrate
8) changes in packaging performance (more beautiful effect)
9) increase in special packaging
based on this background, in order to develop flexo printing in the future, in addition to opening up the market and reducing costs, the following problems need to be solved:
1) simplify the printing process, shorten the cycle, and achieve timely production
2) shorten the replacement time of batch products
3) improve the degree of automation (increase the printing machine with rapid replacement)
4) the pollution of this kind of plastic granulator equipment to the environment is very serious and effective (CTP → CTS)
5) promotion of standardization
6) improve the level of talents through education and training. (to be continued)
